Hiroshima and Miyajima day 5

Hiroshima and Miyajima day 5

We spent three days in Kyoto. We were conscious that we left the old capital of Japan forgetting some temples, restaurants, bars and hidden places. It’ll be so nice to came back to Kyoto and discover new spots.

We left Kyoto thinking that we should go to Hiroshima and Miyajima, small and beautifil island in front of Hiroshima. We arrived to Hiroshima on the morning and we went directly to Miyajima. There is a train, every 20 minutes, that drive you to the port where are the boats to Miyajima. If you have the Japan Rail Pass you can take the train to the port and the boat (there are boats every 20/30 minutes) for free.

If you want to see a Torii inside the water, you must go to Miyajima. It’s one of the most touristic places to visit on Japan and to take a picture. It’s easy to understand that the main road is ready for the tourist. Otherwise, there are very nice walks and trekkings to do on the island. If you don’t have enought time we recommend to visit Daisho-in temple.

Recommendations for Hiroshima and Miyajima:

1- Use Japan Rail Pass to take the boat to Miyajima, it’s free
2- You can not leave Hiroshima without tasting Okonomiyaki. Probably the best place on the city with resonable price to eat it close to JR Hiroshima train station. If you want to know the details where is exactly please leave us a comment and we’ll explain you.

We left Hiroshima after eating. We went to Okayama, where we slept.

We consider enthusiastic, dynamic and crazy to learn what we like. Few days after of we met each other we made our first trip together. After this trip we couldnā€™t stop travelling. Travel is our lives and picturing what we see our hobby.

    1. Les- I’m pretty slow going uhpill but I’d say it was about 30-40 minutes from the ropeway station to the lookout. There are paths all the way down the mountain but I don’t know how long it would take to hike them. The altitude, according to wiki, is 535 metres (1,755 feet). As for the weather, it started out a bit cloudy and spitting at times but cleared up quite a bit while we were there and wasn’t terribly cold during the day. The breeze at the top was a bit chilly but overall it was quite comfortable for hiking. It was a great view and in fact, Miyajima including Mount Misen and the shrine (which I haven’t posted pictures of yet but will) is considered one of the 3 most scenic views in Japan!
